EXCELLENT Based on 133 reviews Posted on Excursion13031170180Verified The most amazing place to stay in Huaraz What an amazing place! Could not recommend enough. The hosts are such welcoming and accommodating people.. they really make you feel like you are so welcomed in Huaraz. They were very accommodating with storing our things while we went on adventures and were helpful whenever we had questions. They are in a quiet neighborhood which was very nice to come home to at the end of the day and it was only a quick taxi ride into town (which is very inexpensive and they’ll help you with). They also have a terrace with amazing views and serve delicious food. Really couldn’t ask for more!Posted on Stay54483694024Verified Great Place Truly amazing place to reset, rest, or use as base camp for adventures. The most accommodating hosts, really felt like we were part of the family. Above and beyond as a B&B, best value in Peru. Posted on Jen PVerified Stop looking Oh, don’t even think of going anywhere else, okay? Our group stayed here for a couple days before and after our trek in Cordillera Huayhuash. The family lives in the bottom floor, 2nd & 3rd floors are the hostel rooms, and dining room is 4th floor. This place is located in a quiet residential area north of the center of town. Getting downtown via taxi was easy and inexpensive so we never felt inconvenienced by our location. Every morning we’d enjoy our breakfast and coffee ( and OMG why is their coffee so amazing?!) and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains from the dining room window. Did I mention there’s a climbing wall next to the kitchen? They provide laundry service. There was always hot water in the bathrooms. Everything - beds, baths, kitchen - was clean clean clean! The guy who runs the hostel - can’t remember his name. Not Maruja - that’s his wife - she’s great, too! Anyway, the guy who runs the place is also an experienced mountaineer and local guide. He’s very knowledgeable on the local treks. I might have gone with him for our Huayhuash trek had I known, but I was already reserved with Eco Ice (good guys - see other review). I’d love to have a reason to return to Huaraz - maybe Santa Cruz or Cordillera Blanca - just so I could stay at La Casa de Maruja again.Posted on KateVerified A perfect base for the Mountains My boyfriend and I stayed at La Casa de Maruja B&B for 7 nights and it was the perfect base for mountain activities. The hotel is family run, a beautiful welcoming place with clean warm rooms, hot showers and a large delicious breakfast included every morning. Gilf & Maruja are a second generation mountaineering family who speak excellent English. They gave great advice for our stay, from day trips through to multi day treks, and they also offer mountaineering and rock climbing from beginner to advanced. Some trips we arranged tours whilst we were also able to rent equipment and get advice to do our own solo treks. Would definitely stay again.Posted on Alisa BVerified An excellent stay! This was the perfect place for me and my sister to start our trip into the mountains. Gilf and Maruja were great hosts, ready to help us organize our trip with maps, information, supplies (such as liquid fuel), and more. Gilf is a knowledgeable guide who speaks English, and Maruja does a great job running the guesthouse. There is a tasty breakfast every morning, tea at any time, nice interior decor with plants, good rooms, and an amazing terrace/ balcony with a view upstairs. Quiet and away from the main city center, this is an ideal place to start a meditative journey into the mountains!Posted on Bogi HVerified The friendliest guesthouse! We really enjoyed our stay at Casa de Maruja. The owners treated us like family, we received very nice breakfasts, coca tea was constantly available, and we could use the kitchen too. Our room was very nice and comfortable, cleaned daily. Recommended!Posted on h_ensdorffVerified Long stay in Huaraz After staying for a month in Huaraz, including several hikes in the area. And I only stayed at La casa de Maruja during my visit in Huaraz. Sure it is a little outside the center but it is only a collectivo (1 Sol) or a taxi ( 4 Sol ) away. During my entire visit the whole family welcomed me and made sure it felt like a home and helped me if I had any questions about Huaraz or my hikes. If I ever return to Huaraz there is only one place I'll stay at and that is here.Posted on FahragezeichenVerified Lovely family-run hostel Maruja, Gilf and their children made my stay in the hostel very special. They are always caring and offer great hospitality. The breakfast is rich and delicious, the rooms are spacious and clean. During my stay there was always hot water available. If you like to do some multiple day trekking around Huaraz you can benefit from Gilfs vast knowledge about the area and the possibility of renting out good camping equipment for decent pricing right at the hostel. Thank you Maruja and Gilf for the great time!Posted on Eduardo Alejand...
GOOD Based on 96 reviews Posted on Annika GüntherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We loved staying at Casa de Maruja. The atmosphere is family like and Gilf, Maruja and Evelyn helped us with everything possible (e.g., recommending, booking and organizing activities). We ended up having dinner at their place every single evening as it was just delicious and we felt so welcome. Thanks to the whole team!! Definitely recommendable!Posted on Jackie EdwardsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Super awesome spot, by far the nicest hostel i have stayed at. The staff are super friendly and it is in a super nice location just in the outside of town where it’s a bit quieter and closer to the mountaineering and hiking destinations to the north with collective into town only costing 1.50 soles.Posted on Mia KaretaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such an incredible place! Maruja and all employees felt like family soon and were soo welcoming and helpful in planing our hikes. Everyday we got to enjoy super delicious breakfast with fresh coffee and smoothies and some super good local dinner. We already miss you guys and wish you all the best for the future 💗Posted on Daniel StuhlpfarrerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had such a nice stay at this place. Maruja and Gilf are such a lovely, funny and friendly couple that are happy to help with literally everything. Also their staff are super sweet and helpful girls. They provide you with cozy rooms, a great breakfast, information about everything and if needed preparation for hikes (also renting equipment). It has a calm atmosphere and a chill rooftop area (with a climbing wall) which made it a perfect base to come back to at the end of the day to relax after doing activities likes hikes. Great overall service for a fair price. I can definitely recommend coming here even tho its a little bit outside of the city (there are colectivos passing by the Hotel every couple minutes going into the city which only takes a few minutes and is very cheap!).Posted on KateTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Casa de Maruja is without a doubt one of the most memorable places I’ve stayed throughout all my travels. I felt genuine sadness leaving today! Gilf, Maruja and their beautiful family welcomed me with open arms & instantly made me feel at home. It’s their warmth and kindness that really makes this hotel/hostel special, they honestly can’t do enough to ensure their guests are happy and comfortable - this extends throughout everything, from the cleanliness/quality of the rooms, the food and atmosphere. The accommodation itself is beautiful, with spacious clean rooms and a wonderful roof terrace where you can boulder, cook or simply relax. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I had some of the best nights sleep in all my travels throughout South America here. I really appreciated the early/late check outs to fit around my nightbuses and the incredible home cooked meals either side of my Huayhuash trek. Perhaps some of the best I’d had in Peru. The hostel is a little bit out of town, but the collectivos are so frequent and affordable it really isn’t a problem. I had friends staying in the centre who experienced noise/ traffic problems, which confirmed even more that I’d made the right choice - this was the perfect place to rest either side of a big hike. Gilf is an experienced mountain guide who speaks excellent English, he took the time to give me lots of advice before my Huayhuash trek which was really appreciated. I’m already looking forward to staying here again during my next trip to Peru. If you’re looking for a homely, comfortable place in Huaraz - don’t hesitate to book. Excelente la atención y los servicios que brindanPosted on Joe RTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Room was good and great cooking facilities, unfortunately we had an unpleasant experience with the host who woke us up after midnight blasting extremely loud music whilst drunk in the guest kitchen with his friends. When asked if he could turn the music down, he argued back, poured himself another drink and then turned the music up louder. This continued for another half an hour until he decided to stop, as a result we decided to check out early and move to a different hostel. Very disappointing after reading so many good reviews.
Over the years, we have welcomed guests from many countries who return for our personalized service and authentic experience.
We are proud to be recognized as a trusted hotel in Huaraz for both comfort and local expertise.
